MUSEO FUCINA ZANETTI

MUSEO FUCINA ZANETTI

Opened in 2007 and owned by the municipality, Museo Fucina Zanetti serves as a sort of outpost, a “checkpoint” for visitors entering the Valsabbino village. The history of Casto is intrinsically connected to ironworking, dating back to the 1600s, when there were 35 ironworks, and the forge represented the final step in a production cycle that began in the mines of Val Trumplina.

The forge still houses a hammer, complete with its hydraulic wheel, and another wheel that, in more recent times, powered the shear. Equally interesting are the machines on display inside, which testify to the continuous innovative process of ironworking in Valle Sabbia, a tradition that lasted at least until the mid-20th century.

Jahrhunderts andauerte.
